Porcupines: A Prickly Subject

The North American Porcupine has a long history of being persecuted in the Pacific Northwest. As an unprotected mammal, they have been quietly disappearing from the landscape-- and people are starting to notice. In response to population declines, ODFW biologists have launched a pilot study using trail cameras, GPS collars, volunteer efforts, and community science observations to better understand the species in this region. 

Join ODFW's project lead Mikayla Bivona, along with Community Scientist Ander Rhoads, to learn why this species matters, what we still don’t know, and how this research could shape porcupines' future in the Deschutes Watershed. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session for those with additional questions about the fascinating and mysterious porcupine.
